(Taipei, Taiwan) Silicon Power proudly announced another honor awarded by HWM Philippines. Silicon Power 64GB eSATA/USB SSD won a Silver Award after passing several benchmarks reported in March issue. The editor of HWM Philippine tested the 64GB eSATA/USB SSD’s performance, gave 8 marks out of 10 and their coveted HWM Silver Award.

 

“…Silicon Power promises that the product does not need an external power cable, this is on the presumption that users are already using a computer with Power Over SATA interface, which unfortunately, is not rolled out in many existing products today except for the some of the most recent ones.” Silicon Power’s contribution to eSATA/ USB for notebook users without the eSATA interface was highlighted at the review in HWM.

 

“Silicon Power’s portable and speedy SSD solution holds a lot of promise. It isn’t the fastest of the lot, and is a little pricey for what it is. While it cannot compete with hard drives in terms of sheer value alone, it is a high speed and high capacity alternative to the comparatively large and hefty 2.5” HDDs.” The editor said. Through multi-tasking, as there are many simultaneous requests on the SSD’s resources, the Silicon Power SSD is obviously fast. “…the performance of the drive to be quite consistent when transferring large amounts of files in a sequential stream. This can be seen in HD Tach’s almost straight-line read performance graph results. ”
