Embedded System

Embedded systems are extensively used in daily life, but, due to their nature, often overlooked. As the name implies, embedded systems are integrated onto or into a larger system; they are a piece. Every embedded system is dedicated to a specific task within that larger system, which varies greatly in size and/or complexity. There are two difficult challenges when it comes to embedded systems. The first is spatial constraints, which limits flexibility. The size of a system is fixed, and so the embedded systems must be designed to fit perfectly. The second is high power dissipation, which limits performance. Embedded systems are often exposed to environments where temperatures are extreme and still expected to operate continuously, thus causing both high thermal and mechanical stress.
