How To Choose A Power Bank

Choosing a power bank is not as straightforward as one would think. The variety of options in terms of capacity, power, number/types of outputs, and more is complicated enough to make anyone confused. In order to get the best power bank for you and your device(s) needs, we have prepared a quick checklist for you to follow:

Understand your device(s) charging specifications.

Knowing your device(s) battery size and minimum power requirements will prevent you from wasting money on a power bank that is not able to charge your device(s).

Check the power output.

Power requirements vary by device size; larger devices such as notebooks need a higher wattage to be charged effectively. As a rule of thumb, a power bank’s power output should be equal to or bigger than your device(s) power output.

Pick the right battery size.

Ideally, you are looking for a power bank that is able to provide at least one full charge cycle to your device(s). A 10,000mAh capacity, for example, is enough to fully charge most smartphone models 2-4 times.

Quick charge or not.

Given the larger battery sizes and power requirements of electronic devices nowadays, it is recommended to opt for a quick charge solution. However, budget-conscious people may find the quick charge function to be unnecessary. If you opt for a quick charge power bank, remember to first check if the quick charge technology used is supported by your device(s).

Determine how many outputs you need.

If you are planning to charge multiple devices at the same time, you should look for a power bank that comes equipped with multiple outputs. Remember that charging more than one device at a time has an effect on the amount of power that is outputted. Also make sure that the types of outputs on the power bank match what’s supported by your devices.

Stay on the safe side.

Make sure your power bank is equipped with a range of security features to keep your device(s) and most importantly you free from any harm. Ideally, you are looking for things such as high voltage and short-circuit protection, current regulation, static resistance, and compliance with certifications such as FCC.

To each his/her own.

Last, but not least, you should choose a power bank that appeals to your personal taste. The variety in terms of materials, sizes, colors, and other design aesthetics make choosing a power bank a very customizable experience.
