Silicon Power introduces its RS-MMC™
2004-10-12
TAIPEI, TAIWAN (October 12, 2004) ---The RS-MMCTM standard was approved by MMCA (MultiMediaCard Association) at the end of 2002. The proposal of this miniaturized card (only half the size of the standard MMC) was co-sponsored by Hitachi Ltd. and EEMA Italia SPA. Both standards & RS-MMCs have seven pins and can be used in exiting host platforms. However, the MMCA and sponsors believe that the reduced size card will find most acceptance in mobile phones and digital imaging markets. SILICON POWER introduces the RS-MMCTM, with dimensions of just 24mm x 18mm x 1.4mm, exceptional performance, and full compatibility with the latest mobile phones which come with RS-MMC slots. Its write speed is up to 1.7 MB/S while read speed is around 1.0 MB/S. Such a speed has met top-level industry standards and allows smooth data storage and downloading in mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, and personal computers. The card can be used in the same way as the MultiMediaCardTM with SILICON POWER’s RS-MMCTM expander, which will make it regain the full size format. Sample shipments will be ready by this August.
